Associate Professor Dr Volkan Degirmenci

Presented Topic : The production of biomass derived platform molecules by Metal-Organic Framework heterogeneous catalysts

Dr Volkan Degirmenci is an Associate Professor in School of Engineering in the University of Warwick, UK. Dr. Degirmenci obtained his PhD in Chemical Engineering from Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey, in 2007. Then he joined to the Molecular Heterogeneous Catalysis research group at Eindhoven University of Technology, Netherlands as a postdoctoral fellow in 2008. Next he moved to UK to the Queen’s University Belfast in 2012 where he was promoted to Assistant Professor in Chemical Engineering. He joined the School of Engineering at University of Warwick in 2015. The research interests of Dr. Degirmenci are in the field of heterogeneous catalysis and reactor design with a focus on microporous and mesoporous materials. The topics of his recent research are directed towards the development of sustainable processes for biomass conversion, in-situ spectroscopy for the understanding of the reaction mechanisms and structure-activity relations in heterogeneous catalysis. In the School, he is the coordinator of MSc “Sustainable Energy Technologies”, and he is coordinating the International collaborations, developing international recruitment strategies, and lead on the development of strategic partnerships with external institutions.

Dr. Ir. Andy Noorsaman Someng, DEA

Presented Topic : Boosting “renewable energy” Power Generation in Indonesia Electricity Sector: A Policy Action by the Government.

Dr. Andy Noorsaman Someng has served as a lecturer at his alma mater Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering Universitas Indonesia since 1986. Andy was elected Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering for the 1996-2000 periods. He established much industrial cooperation during his time as Head of Department, paving the way for him to be appointed as the Vice Dean for Cooperation for the Faculty of Engineering Universitas Indonesia in 2000.

In 2001 he was tasked by the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights to safeguard the intellectual property rights of scientists and inventors in Indonesia. His promising career elevated him to the position of Head of BPH Migas in from 2012 – 2017. Starting from 2017, Dr. Someng was appointed as the Director General of Electricity and sat as Commissioner of PT. PLN (Persero).

Associate Professor Dr. Anwar Usman

Associate Professor Dr. Anwar Usman received his bachelor degree in Physics from Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta Indonesia. He then continued his Master study in Institut Teknologi Bandung and Tohoku University Sendai Japan where he was awarded an M.Sc in 1993 and 1997. He continued on for his Ph.D in Tohoku University Sendai, Japan where he graduated in 2000.

From 2003 – 2013, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at various institution including: Max-Born Insitutute, Osaka University, Ecole Normale, and National Chiao Tung University. From 2013 – 2015 he was a Research Specialist at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology. Currently he serve as Associate Professor at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Universiti Brunei Darussalam.

His research interest includes Light Matter Interactions, Photochemistry, Photobiology, Analytical Chemistry, Molecular Dynamics, Nanoparticles, Nanoscience, and Nanotechnology. Based on Google Scholar, he has 195 publications, 1877 citations, 23 index-h and 50 index-i10.

Dr. Mazidah Binti Mamat

Dr. Mazidah Binti Mamat is a lecturer at the School of Fundamental Science, University Malaysia Terengganu. She completed her Bachelor Degree with honors in Industrial Chemistry from Universiti Putra Malaysia, Serdang in 1999 and also her Ph.D in Materials Chemistry from the same university. She started her teaching careers by teaching Physical and Organic Chemistry in Kolej Chermai, Negeri Sembilan from 2000-2002, Chemistry Lecturer in  Kolej TESDEC Sdn. Bhd., Terengganu, Malaysia from 2006-2009 and starting from June 2009 she joined the Universiti Malaysia Terengganu.

With seven research grants under her belt, Dr. Mazidah has more than a dozen publications in several prestigious journals and proceedings. She is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Chemistry (IKM, Committee) and the Malaysian Analytical Sciences Society (ANALIS, Member).

Prof. I Nyoman Suprapta Winaya, ST,MA.Sc., Ph.D.

Presented Topic : An Increase in Bed Temperature on Gasification  of Dual Reactor Fluidized Bed

I Nyoman Suprapta Winaya is a professor in the Udayana University, Bali, Indonesia. He currently serves as a leturer and researcher in Mechanical Engineering Department. Winaya received Bachelor”s degree from Udayana University, his Master from Dalhousie University of Canada and his Ph.D from Niigata University of Japan. His main research is in energy conversion system especially utilization of coal, waste and biomass into clean energy using fluidized bed technology.

Dr. Winaya was pointed as a Professor on 2013 by Indonesia’s Ministry of Educational and Cultural in the field of energy conversion system at Udayana University. Presently, he leads the Renewable Energy Research Laboratory especially in the field of gasification and biogas. Prof. Winaya’s passion is to transfer research results into industrial practice having commitment to spread an advanced knowledge into the globe.

Prof. Winaya is a senate member of Udayana University, a member of Indonesian’s Association of Mechanical Engineering, a member of Indonesia’s Association of Fuel Expert, a member of Indonesian’s Association of Engineer, a member of American’s Society of Mechanical Engineering, a member of Japanese’s Society of Chemical Engineering.
